What sets us apart

Women run
the room.

At every Not Staying In event, from the door to the DJ booth, women are in charge of the space. That is not an accident. That is the whole point.

Frequently Asked Questions

We've heard them all.

Do I need to know anyone to show up? +
No. Most of our guests came to their first event completely solo. You are always welcome to bring a friend for support, but you absolutely do not need to. You will not be the only one walking in alone.
What are events like? +
We’re a third space for women and the queer community. No performing. No networking. Just people actually trying to make friends.
I'm kind of introverted. Will I fit in? +
Most of our guests say the same thing before their first event. That is literally why we built this. Our group chat exists so you can ease in, meet people, vibe, and get comfortable before you ever have to show up in person. By the time you arrive, it already feels like you know everyone.
Is this only for people in Los Angeles? +
Not at all. We are open to everyone. We just happen to be centralized in Los Angeles right now, but we are actively working on expanding to more cities in the future. Stay tuned.
Are gays, theys, and trans women welcomed? +
Absolutely. We’re queer inclusive, full stop. Our events are designed for women, and we believe that trans women are women. This is their safe space.
How We Started

"I posted that I was tired of staying in.
Hundreds of women showed up."

My name is Dre Ramirez, and I started Not Staying In because I was lonely. I posted on TikTok that I was tired of staying home and wanted friends who actually wanted to go out. I expected nothing.

Hundreds of women showed up in my comments. That post turned into a group chat, the group chat turned into actually going out, and going out turned into me producing real events. I am now redefining what going out looks like for women. Because I had lived the experience myself.

My events are women run. Women to greet you at the door. Women making your drinks. And when you look up at that stage, the DJs are women too.

The friendships that have come out of this are what I am most proud of. Hundreds of real connections have formed. Women are now traveling the world together. They have people who actually show up for their birthday dinner. They have an excuse to get ready every single month for girls’ night. And when they need to vent, they have a group chat that they can go to.
